The Las Vegas 51s scored two runs today in the top of the ninth inning for a 6-4 victory at host Salt Lake in the first game of a five-game series.
With the win, the 51s stayed in a first place tie with Sacramento in the Pacific Southern Division. Sacramento beat Tucson today, 5-3.
With the game tied at four, Eric Campbell singled with one out in the ninth for Las Vegas. He stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored the game-winning run on an RBI single from Zach Lutz. Later in the inning Matt den Dekker scored on a balk.
Campbell had three hits for Las Vegas, Lutz hit his 12th home run of the year, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis doubled and scored a run.
The series continues Saturday in Utah.
