Officials clear way for CSN vocational courses for high school students

The Clark County School Board unanimously approved a $30,000 contract with the College of Southern Nevada on Thursday to allow high school students to take vocational classes at the community college.

Interested Clark County students may take career and technical education courses in heating, ventilation and air conditioning and welding at CSN’s Henderson campus this coming school year.

Students may earn dual credit to satisfy both high school and college graduation requirements. They may receive up to one year of college-level credit.

Class sizes will be capped at about 15 students and will be scheduled from Monday to Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. CCSD students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from CSN.

The program will run from Aug. 26 to June 5, 2014.
