The Las Vegas 51s scored twice in the ninth inning today against visiting Fresno to force extra innings, winning in the 10th on Eric Campbell’s game-ending RBI single for a 9-8 victory.
It was the sixth Las Vegas victory in a row, giving the 51s (75-57) a two-game lead against Sacramento in the Pacific Southern Division standings with less than two weeks to play. The 51s’ magic number to win the division is 10 — each Las Vegas win or Sacramento loss lowers the number by one.
Brandon Hicks went 2 for 3 with four RBIs for Las Vegas, knocking a two-out, two-run double in the ninth inning to force extra innings.
The series continues at 7 p.m. Saturday at Cashman Field.
