A 12-year-old boy has been taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries after he was struck by a Clark County School District bus while riding his bicycle this afternoon, North Las Vegas Police said.

The boy was riding his bike on the sidewalk near Tropical Parkway and Canyon Gap Drive around 3:45 p.m. when he rode into the path of the bus and was struck, Officer Chrissie Coon said.

No one on the bus was injured and the driver is not expected to face charges at this time, she said.

Monday was the first day back in classrooms for CCSD students.
