Motorcyclist who was apparently speeding, weaving dies after crash

A male motorcyclist died today after he collided into a car while weaving through traffic on East Tropicana Avenue.

Metro responded to the collision about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Tropicana and Paradise Road. A Metro helicopter tracking the motorcycle witnessed the man weaving through traffic when he hit the back end of an SUV and flipped over his motorcycle, police said.

Twenty minutes earlier, witnesses reported the motorcyclist speeding from 90 to 100 mph on U.S. 95 near Alta and Buffalo drives.

The man was transported to Sunrise Medical Center in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

Metro is investigating the collision.
