Roadwork to interrupt traffic on I-15 during overnight hours

Roadwork this week on Interstate 15 will result in lane closures at night, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced today.

NDOT crews will be installing devices called detector loops, which help record the flow of traffic. The process involves cutting the pavement, installing wires that serve as the traffic-recording loops and resealing the pavement.

The project will take several weeks to complete across the Las Vegas Valley, but this week’s night work will last from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Friday. All of the work will be done from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Three left lanes will be closed, leaving two travel lanes open, officials said. When work in the left lanes is finished, those lanes will reopen and crews will begin working on the two right lanes.

NDOT officials urge motorists to be cautious, slow down and heed traffic-control devices on the following days at the following work locations:

• Tuesday, northbound lanes of Interstate 15 between Blue Diamond Road and Warm Springs Road.

• Wednesday, northbound lanes of Interstate 15 south of Russell Road

• Thursday, northbound lanes of Interstate 15 north of Tropicana Avenue

Nightly work will resume at other locations at 9 p.m. Sunday. The project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 27.
