An alleged car thief driving a stolen Mercedes-Benz rammed two squad cars this morning, police said.

Officers attempted to surround Samual Donesing as he traveled near the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Flamingo Road because they spotted the stolen black Mercedes-Benz 350 he was driving, Metro Police said. Donesing was wanted on a felony warrant in the theft of another vehicle.

Donesing, 23, sped away as the officers approached, striking two unmarked Metro vehicles.

Metro said officers did not chase Donesing because he fled the area dangerously fast, though they monitored his location from a distance.

The Mercedes-Benz broke down near the intersection of Spring Mountain Road and Decatur Boulevard, and police arrested him there without incident.

Detectives also found a stolen handgun inside of the stolen car.

Donesing was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on several charges, including vehicle theft and illegally owning a firearm.

No one was hurt during the chase.
