A former Metro Police officer who pleaded guilty to inappropriately touching women while on duty received a two-year prison sentence.

John K. Norman, 34, had pleaded guilty in June to two gross misdemeanors — oppression under color of office and open or gross lewdness, according to court records.

Norman was sentenced Thursday morning by Clark County District Court Judge Abbi Silver, who ordered he serve a 12-month sentence for each count, which would run consecutively, court officials said. Norman received credit for previously serving a day in jail.

Metro Police arrested Norman in February 2012 after two women alleged he touched them inappropriately while Norman was on duty.

Norman forced a woman to remain in his police car while he manipulated her bra and breasts on June 23, 2011, according to police reports. Nearly six months later, on Dec. 10, 2011, another woman said Norman detained her, forced her to “lift her shirt up over her bra” and touched her, the report states.

In June 2011, Norman resigned from Metro, where had been employed since 2008.
