Suspected robbers, jewelry store worker exchange gunfire

Attempted robbery

A gunfight erupted as two men attempted to rob a jewelry store Thursday afternoon.

Around 4:50 p.m., the suspects went into Huntington’s Jewelry Inc. at 7385 W. Sahara Ave. near Tenaya Way, Metro Police Lt. David Jacoby said.

Gunshots were exchanged as the suspects and an employee each fired at least one shot. Jacoby said it was not clear who shot first or if anyone was struck by the gunfire.

He did not have details on what — if anything — the suspects escaped with. He said that the investigation is ongoing.
