Metro taking applications for police recruits

The clock is ticking for aspiring Las Vegas police officers.

Metro Police began accepting applications Monday for police recruits. The deadline to apply is July 8 but could be moved up if the department receives 2,500 applications before that date.

Candidates must possess a high-school degree or a general education diploma (GED), as well as a valid Nevada driver’s license at the time of hire. Applicants also must be 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States by July 10.
