Man arrested in July 4 shotgun attack on former neighbor

A Las Vegas man was arrested on a count of attempted murder after he allegedly shot a former neighbor in the arm with a shotgun while the victim was setting off fireworks on July 4, Metro Police said.

Styron “Remmi” Harrison, 37, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on Saturday on counts of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and mayhem with a deadly weapon.

Metro Police allege Harrison attacked Charles Gargano because he had broken up a fight between Harrison and another neighbor several weeks earlier.

According to an arrest report, Harison approached while Gargano was setting off fireworks with a group of people at an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Karen Avenue, near Eastern and Sahara avenues.

Harrison, wearing a brown hoodie and cradling a shotgun under a red towel, walked up to Gargano and, without saying anything, fired into his right arm, blasting away part of the victim’s elbow, the arrest report said.

Gargano “looked down and saw that his arm was just hanging down and almost completely removed from his body,” the report stated. Gargano told police he was not expected to regain use of his arm and may lose it entirely.

Detectives discovered a spent shotgun shell and other evidence at Harrison’s ex-girlfriend’s house, and several witnesses identified him as the shooter, police said.

Harrison was in court Tuesday and was being held without bail.
