las vegas 51s:

51s win streak snapped by Tacoma

The Las Vegas 51s had their seven game winning streak halted Thursday, falling 9-1 at Tacoma in the first game of a Pacific Coast League series.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis doubled to start the game for Las Vegas and scored its lone run on a groundout by Wilmer Flores.

However, the 51s were held in check the rest of the game, managing just seven total hits. No Las Vegas player had multiple hits and the Nieuwenhuis double was the 51s’ lone extra base hit.

Starter D.J. Mitchell (2-2) was roughed up for four runs on five hits in not lasting through the second inning.

The teams continue the season Friday.
