Page ascends to top spot on Nevada Board of Regents

Members of the Nevada Board of Regents have selected Kevin J. Page as the board's new chairman.

Page, a board member since 2009, was chosen Friday to succeed Jason Geddes as chair of the 13-member board. He'll begin his one-year term on July 1.

Page was appointed to the board by former Gov. Jim Gibbons and then was retained during the 2010 election. He's currently the vice chairman as he awaits his term as the board's leader.

A New York native, he received a bachelor's degree from UNLV in 1986 and went on to join the university's faculty. In 2006, he became the youngest UNLV graduate to be awarded both the UNLV Alumnus of the Year and Distinguished Nevadan Award, the regents' most prestigious honor.

Rick Trachok, who was appointed to the board by Gov. Brian Sandoval in 2011, was chosen to serve as vice chairman.
