North Las Vegas man, 20, dies in Interstate 15 crash

Fatal crash on Interstate 15

A 20-year-old man died Saturday after he crashed his car on Interstate 15 near Charleston Boulevard.

Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the crash about 12:55 a.m. North Las Vegas resident Jesus Hernandez was driving his Honda Civic south on I-15 when he lost control of the car, Trooper Loy Hixson said.

Hernandez steered left, then over-corrected to the right, sending his car slamming into the west barrier wall on the highway. He was not wearing a seat belt, Hixson said. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident may have been caused by another vehicle that continued south on I-15, Hixson said. Nevada Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information regarding the collision to contact Nevada Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team at 702-432-5219.
