Officer involved in accident
A Metro Police motorcycle officer was taken Thursday morning to University Medical Center after being involved in a traffic accident.
Officers remain on the scene at South Maryland Parkway and East Sahara Avenue, where the accident occurred about 11:10 a.m. Officer Larry Hadfield, a Metro spokesman, said he didn’t have many details about the accident but it appeared to involve the on-duty officer on his motorcycle and another vehicle.
Hadfield said the officer was taken to UMC with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
Police continue to investigate, and Hadfield said he did not know what caused the accident or who was at fault.
A portion of Sahara is closed while the investigation continues.
