Two killed in plane crash near Boulder City airport

Updated Monday, June 24, 2013 | 2:49 p.m.

Two people were killed Sunday in an airplane crash outside of Boulder City after the plane reportedly lost engine power in flight.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified one of the victims as Cody Allen Hall, 23, of North Las Vegas. The name of the other person on board has not yet been released.

Authorities responded to the crash at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, about four miles west of Boulder City Municipal Airport, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer said.

According to preliminary reports, the pilot was attempting to land after losing engine power, Kenitzer said. The two were in a Beechcraft T-34, which is a single-engine, propeller-driven aircraft.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA were investigating the crash, Kenitzer said.
