Possible gang-related shooting

A gang member identified as the suspect in a fatal shooting Monday in Las Vegas is in custody in Fresno, Calif..

Brian Beltran, 38, was arrested without incident around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday in Fresno after police there received a tip from Metro Police, Fresno Police Sgt. Jaime Rios said.

Metro Police identifies Beltran as a suspect in the fatal shooting Monday of 23-year-old Kenneth Mallet at an apartment complex in the 7100 block of Smoke Ranch Road, near Tenaya Way and U.S. 95. According to police, Mallet was found in the parking lot of the apartment complex around 8:30 a.m. Monday, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Metro Police said it appeared two males argued outside an apartment prior to the shooting. Mallet was pronounced dead at University Medical Center after the shooting.

On Monday, Metro classified the shooting as possibly gang-related. Fresno Police said Beltran was a member of the Bulldogs gang in Fresno.

Beltran was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a fugitive arrest warrant for murder with a deadly weapon, Metro said. Beltran will face extradition proceedings for his return to Nevada.
