One killed, one critically injured in crash at Sahara and Sloan

Fatal crash

One man was killed and another person critically injured in a car crash Sunday morning in east Las Vegas, Metro Police said.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Sloan Road, Metro Police Lt. Jack Owen said. The driver, traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Sahara, lost control of the car and crashed into a pickup truck, then crashed into a brick wall, Owen said.

One of the occupants was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Owen said. The status of the other passenger and the pickup truck driver are unknown, he said.
