las vegas 51s:

51s blanked at Sacramento in series opener

The Las Vegas 51s were limited to three hits Friday in being shut out 3-0 at the Sacramento RiverCats in the first game of a four-game Pacific Coast League series.

Sacramento starter Bruce Billings struck out eight Las Vegas batters in 6 and 1/3 innings, and two RiverCats relievers finished the game without allowing a hit.

Jamie Hoffmann, Zach Lutz and Juan Centeno each singled for Las Vegas, but the 51s only had one runner reach second base. And, following two of the singles, the next 51s batter hit into a double play.

The series continues Saturday in Sacramento. Las Vegas returns home May 7.
