A woman was run over by an SUV Thursday after an altercation with the driver in the western Las Vegas Valley.

Metro Police responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash about 4:10 p.m. on Charleston Boulevard near Torrey Pines Drive. A woman was trying to open the door of the SUV after an argument with the driver when it sped off, running her over, Metro Police officials said.

The woman was transported to University Medical Center Trauma with a serious head injury, police said.

Westbound lanes on Charleston are closed while Metro Police investigates the incident.
