Red Rock Campground to close for summer months

A popular, developed campground in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is scheduled to close for the summer beginning Tuesday.

Red Rock Campground, which is approximately 2 miles east of the visitor center on State Route 159 (West Charleston Boulevard), will be closed from Tuesday to Aug. 30. The site will be open in time for for Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31-Sept. 2. The closure will occur during a traditionally low-usage period, said Kirsten Cannon, a spokeswoman with the Bureau of Land Management.

Red Rock Campground is the only developed campground within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Backcountry camping at Red Rock Canyon will continue for those with a permit. Call 702-515-5050 for information.
