Sun coverage

A 50-year-old Las Vegas man was killed Saturday night after losing control of his motorcycle on Las Vegas Boulevard near Jean.

The man was traveling north about 10 p.m. when he hit a curve in the road and was thrown from the motorcycle, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Hixson said.

Police closed a section of the highway for about five hours while investigating the scene, he said. Release of the man's identity is pending notification of his next of kin, Hixson said.

  1. How does one "hit a curve?" But that's not the point. It seems every time I'm driving I see one or more motorcyclists acting like idiots: weaving in and out of traffic, racing at incredibly high speeds; acting like they are Evel Knievel. Actually, they about as dumb as dirt; endangering not only themselves with their reckless behavior but those around them, also. It's little wonder we read and hear so often about a motocyclist dying in a traffic "accident."

  2. You know every time I am driving, I see people in cars and trucks driving like IDIOTS. Most motorcyclists I know ride with care and are much better drivers when in their cars and trucks (they have to be to survive) in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas valley full of drunk drivers and in attentive drivers. There are never car or truck accidents, where they are at fault, Huh, ignorant rat (Fink)???
