Fatal accident

A pedestrian died Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Metro Police detectives said the man was hit about 7 p.m. while walking east across Martin Luther King Boulevard in a crosswalk at Bartlett Avenue. He was struck by a northbound 2012 Chrysler 300 that failed to yield.

The pedestrian, 60, was rushed to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.

The incident was Metro’s 85th traffic-related death this year.
