Cody Alfar rushed for 192 yards with three touchdowns to help Shadow Ridge pick up a 32-7 victory over Spring Valley.

“He’s a hard-nosed kid who runs the ball hard and worked hard in the weight room,” Shadow Ridge coach Frank Tousa said. “He wants the ball, and he wants as many carries as he can get.”

Ty Graham added 65 yards on the ground with a touchdown, while quarterback Dustin Puia threw for 169 yards on 14-of-19 passing.

Melvin Johnson caught five passes for 78 yards, while J Henderson grabbed six for 73 yards.

The win, coupled with a Sierra Vista loss, solidified the Mustangs (3-5, 2-2 Sunset Northwest) as the No. 3 seed coming out of the Sunset Northwest, meaning the Mustangs will likely avoid playing Bishop Gorman in the first round of the Sunset playoffs.

Spring Valley fell to 2-6 and 1-3 in the Sunset Northwest.
