Fugitive wanted by Metro dupes deputies with false ID

The 22-year-old woman handed Nye County deputies a California driver’s license and told them her name was Mary Moriarty.

Deputies, who had arrested her Saturday on drug paraphernalia charges, booked her under that name into the jail, where she was released the next day on her own recognizance, officials said.

Now law enforcement authorities are looking for her again — only, this time, they’re seeking a woman named Jessica Holbert.

Detectives from the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Police have discovered that Holbert was illegally pretending to be someone else to avoid prosecution, officials said. Holbert is a fugitive wanted by Metro and a probation absconder sought by Nevada Parole and Probation.

Authorities believe Holbert is traveling between Las Vegas and Pahrump. In Nye County, she faces charges of using an ID of another to avoid/delay prosecution and personating another.

Anyone with information about Holbert’s location is asked to contact the Nye County Sheriff’s Office at 775-751-7000 or [email protected].
