Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer open this week's show by discussing the top-ranked high school football team in the nation, Florida's Booker T. Washington, coming to town Friday to take on Bishop Gorman. They then work their way into other pertinent topics, highlighted by a discussion of the definition of "athlete" and whether Green Valley can match Canyon Springs' "quickness".

The Division I-A Sunrise was supposed to be a two-team race between Cheyenne and Mojave.

Faith Lutheran has crashed the party.

The Crusaders received 163 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 18 carries Friday from Keenan Smith in a 34-20 win against visiting Clark.

The win puts the Crusaders (5-2 overall, 2-0 in league) in sole possession of first place. It was also their fifth straight victory.

“It’s huge to see the level of confidence they are playing with now,” Faith Lutheran coach Vernon Fox said. “They are starting to look like the team I know they can be with how they work and the level of efficiency.”

But it’s still a work in progress.

Faith Lutheran’s defense surrendered some big plays in allowing Clark to keep the game close. Clark also had a kickoff return for a touchdown.

“But our offense did a good job at putting points on the board, so we were never really at threat,” Fox said.

Fabian Lagudi added scoring runs of 2 and 16 yards, combining with Smith to give Faith Lutheran a solid ground attack.

“Keenan had another good game and Fabian has emerged,” Fox said.
