Letter to the editor:

Responsibility is not too much to ask

Sandra Miner’s letter Sept. 23 claims Republicans want to “force women to bring children into the world” even if they can’t feed them, yet they don’t want to provide them with food stamps. This is not true!

Republicans believe in being responsible for one’s self. They don’t think of having a child for which someone else would pay, i.e., the taxpayer. Instead, they donate to charities like the Living Grace Home in Henderson to save lives and give unwed, homeless, pregnant girls a better foundation toward being a contributing member of society .

It is not the job of government to feed people but protect them from attack or disaster. Yet, this administration has encouraged people to stay on unemployment and actively seeks out people — even to the point of going out in the streets — to sign up for food-assistance programs. One out of 5 U.S. citizens is now on food stamps.

Our government pays people to actively seek more to sign up for various assistance programs to keep feeding off Lady Liberty’s teat.

The Obama administration has created mostly part-time jobs to ensure people stay dependent upon the government, thus giving it more power.
