Getting under center

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer preview the two biggest games of the week, Desert Pines at Moapa Valley and Green Valley at Canyon Springs. Keefer also takes amusement at Brewer's yearning for the old days before spread offenses overtook the football landscape.

Arbor View stifled Shadow Ridge’s offense while keeping its own humming Thursday night.

The Aggies nabbed their fourth straight victory in a 51-7 win over the Mustangs.

“The kids got physical,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said. “We’re trying to create that physicality through practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, maybe even more so than Friday night. It’s important to us.”

Herman Gray and Salah Boyce had multiple touchdowns on the night. While both of Gray’s were rushing, Boyce caught one touchdown and scooped a fumble for another score.

Anthony Smith led the Aggies with 149 rushing yards on nine carries. Arbor View is looking forward to next week’s matchup at Sierra Vista, where former assistant coach John Foss is in his first year at the helm.

“It’s a big game for us with Coach Foss over there,” Barnson said. “The kids are taking it a little differently.”
