Getting under center

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer preview the two biggest games of the week, Desert Pines at Moapa Valley and Green Valley at Canyon Springs. Keefer also takes amusement at Brewer's yearning for the old days before spread offenses overtook the football landscape.

After starting its season with defeats in three of its initial four games, the Centennial High football team has won three straight.

Today, the Bulldogs defeated Cimarron-Memorial 20-0 to remain undefeated in Southwest League play.

“We just keep getting better each week,” Centennial coach Leon Evans said. “I tell people all the time that we have the toughest in-state schedule of anybody in town. But our kids kept fighting and kept getting stronger. And we are starting to click.”

Lantz Worthington scored on a 53-yard run for the Bulldogs, quarterback Coll Thomson scored on a 1-yard quarterback keep and Gene Haley had an interception return for a touchdown of about 40 yards.
