Police release video in shooting of youth at Meadows mall

Mall attack

Police have released video footage capturing the shooting and beating of a youth as he waited for the release of a new pair of shoes at Meadows mall last month in hopes that the images will help the public identify two men wanted in connection with the crime.

The underage victim, whose age and name police have not been released, was shot shortly after 4 a.m. on Aug. 17 while he waited with about 50 other people, according to Metro Police. He was rushed to University Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition. Police did not say which store the crowd was lined up for.

Police believe the victim was approached by the men and one of them hit him in the face and knocked him to the ground while the other pulled out a handgun and fired several times as he lay on the ground.

One of the assailants is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing. The second is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, blue pants and green Air Jordan shoes. Both are believed to be in their early 20s.

The men drove away from the location in a gray Dodge Charger, police said.

Anyone with information about the assailants is urged to call Metro Police at 702-828-5634 or Crimestoppers at 385-5555.
