Letter to the editor:

Uniforms help kids focus on education

It’s about time public schools in our country put students in uniforms.

The other day I passed a school that was at recess. All the students were in uniforms. My first impression was what a well-organized school I was seeing.

Years ago, my two children went to a Catholic school. They both left our home dressed in uniforms. Neither ever complained about their attire. When they got home after school, they dressed in the latest clothing style.

It saved my wife a lot of work and me a lot of money. My children were not slaves to fashion at their school; they were slaves to getting a good education. Their education was far better than a public school could offer.

When I was in the Navy during the Korean War, from Day One I was in uniform. We looked like a team and acted like a team. To keep the ship afloat and ourselves alive, we had to act like a team, not a bunch of dysfunctional fools.

Get with it, public schools; many schools throughout the world have their students in uniforms.
