Son’s sentencing delayed in Las Vegas highway shooting

Sentencing was postponed to June 9 for a 22-year-old Las Vegas man facing up to 30 years in Nevada state prison for plotting the shooting of his stepfather to collect a life insurance policy.

Michael Andrew Bessey's attorney, Daniel Bunin, sought time to respond to errors in a state presentencing report.

Bessey pleaded guilty in January to conspiracy and attempted murder in the wounding of Robert Bessey in November 2012.

Michael Bessey's mother, Amy Pearson Bessey, was sentenced last month to up to 44 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of orchestrating the plot.

Michael Bessey and his uncle, Richard Pearson, were arrested shortly Robert Bessey was shot while driving to work on Interstate 15.

Richard Pearson is due for sentencing April 30.
