Area of shooting
Metro Police are on the scene of a shooting early this afternoon in the Vegas Heights neighborhood.
In a news release, Metro said one victim was shot and transported to University Medical Center with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
The shooting occurred about 12:05 p.m. in the 1900 block of J Street, near North Martin Luther King and West Lake Mead boulevards.
One person has been detained at the scene, where police continue their investigation.
