USA Basketball to train in Las Vegas ahead of exhibitions, World Cup tournament

NEW YORK – The U.S. national team will play exhibition games in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago and the Canary Islands before this summer's World Cup of Basketball.

The Americans will begin their training in Las Vegas and will play an intrasquad exhibition game Aug. 1 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Americans will play Brazil on Aug. 16 in Chicago, before games at Madison Square Garden in New York against the Dominican Republic on Aug. 20 and Puerto Rico two days later. The training tour wraps up against Slovenia on Aug. 26 at the Canary Islands.

The schedule was announced Wednesday by USA Basketball.

The World Cup of Basketball runs Aug. 30 to Sept. 14 in Spain. The United States is the defending world champion.
