Coroner IDs burned body found in backyard of home

A body found burned in the backyard of a Las Vegas home has been identified as 81-year-old Maria Ballesteros, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The body was discovered Tuesday after firefighters responded to a fire at the home in the 1300 block of Seal Beach Drive, near Jones Boulevard and Washington Avenue.

While en route, firefighters were told that a woman was on fire and that the flames had been extinguished, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Ballesteros was dead when firefighters arrived. Metro Police are investigating.
