Las Vegas has three fatal stabbings in 24 hours, but police say not to worry

There have been three fatal stabbings in the Las Vegas Valley in less than 24 hours, according to Metro Police.

It's unusual — but not cause for concern — said Officer Larry Hadfield, a Metro spokesman. The public shouldn't worry as the crimes are unrelated, Hadfield said.

The spate of stabbings began late Wednesday afternoon when two men fought outside the Savers thrift store at 3121 N. Rancho Drive, according to Metro Police. Police originally said a screwdriver had been used in the stabbing, but today they said the weapon was a knife.

Two more stabbing deaths followed today. Metro Police responded to reports of a stabbing just after midnight at Exeter Drive and Isaac Avenue, near Lake Mead Boulevard.

Another man was stabbed to death outside a McDonald's restaurant on Sahara Avenue near Rancho Drive. Metro Police responded about 8:25 a.m. to the stabbing in the 2600 block of West Sahara Avenue.

Homicide detectives are investigating all three events and suspects are in custody for at least two of the stabbings.
