Brush fire consumes 6 acres near Overton

Firefighters battled a large brush fire in Overton from mid afternoon into early evening Friday, according a release from the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire devoured approximately 6 acres and while it threatened homes, animals and barns, no one was injured, the department said.

Volunteer firefighters from Overton, Logandale, Moapa Valley and Bunkerville were first on scene, the release said.

The Clark County Fire Department responded at 2:35 p.m. and units from the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service assisted, according to the release.

Authorities declared the fire knocked down just after 5:30 p.m., the release said.

Investigators are still determining what sparked the blaze, according to the release.
