51s hang on to beat Tacoma, 7-6

Andrew Brown’s solo home run in the seventh inning today lifted the Las Vegas 51s to a 7-6 victory against visiting Tacoma for the 51s' fifth straight win.

Brown, who was recently demoted to Triple-A from the New York Mets, went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. His home run gave Las Vegas (17-5) a 7-4 lead in the seventh inning, but Tacoma rallied for two runs in the eighth and threatened to tie the game before the Las Vegas bullpen settled down.

In the ninth inning, 51s stopper Jeff Walters gave up a pair of hits before recording the final out to preserve the win.

Allan Dykstra had another stellar game for the 51s, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Zach Lutz had two RBIs for Las Vegas and Wilmer Flores scored twice.

The series continues at 7 p.m. Saturday.
