Taylor Teagarden’s three-run home run in the first inning today for the Las Vegas 51s highlighted a five-run inning in an 11-3 victory against visiting Tacoma at Cashman Field.
It was the first of two home runs for the catcher. Teagarden 2 for 4 with five RBIs, three runs scored and a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
Andrew Brown also homered for Las Vegas, while Matt den Dekker went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Zach Lutz was the lone Las Vegas starter not to record a hit, but he scored three runs.
At 18-5 overall, the 51s have the best record in the 16-team Pacific Coast League. They already have a substantial four-game lead over second-place Albuquerque in the Pacific Southern standings.
The series with Tacoma, the Seattle Mariners’ top affiliate, continues at 12:05 p.m. Sunday.
