Republican Assemblyman Jim Wheeler of Minden was released from the hospital today after undergoing an angioplasty procedure Saturday.
Doctors told him to take it easy for a week, and he plans to be back on the campaign trail this weekend, he said.
The 60-year-old, first-term lawmaker said he suffered chest pains Friday while hauling hay. When he woke up Saturday, the pains persisted, so he went to the Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, he said.
He said doctors inserted two stents to free the flow of blood to his heart.
“I haven’t felt this good since I was 30 years old,” he said.
His district includes Douglas, Storey and part of Lyon counties.
