Taxes are (or should be) well behind you now, but let's look back fondly as we end April's edition of the Smithereens Cartoon Caption Contest.

The winner of the contest, where you submit captions and then vote for the best one, is: "Of course, failure to maintain your payment schedule will result in substantial penalties."

Submitted on Facebook by Anthony Dee Varrone, the winning entry received 37 percent of the votes.

The runners-up were:

• "We don't refer it to it as 'hanging' yourself — just stretching your capabilities to motivate you to pay. Cash, check or credit card?" submitted by Pete Moreno, received 30 percent of the vote.

• "Well, there is one more potential deduction we haven't discussed," by Laura Martin Bratcher, received 20 percent of the vote.

• "Can you please explain how expenses made at Spearmint Rhino strip club were business related tax write offs?" from Ange8383 received 13 percent of the vote.

Thanks to everyone who participated. We'll be back soon with a May contest.
