51s drop series opener against Albuquerque

The Las Vegas 51s were defeated today by visiting Albuquerque in the first game of a Pacific Coast League series, 6-2.

Albuquerque never trailed in scoring once in the second inning and twice in the third, roughing up Las Vegas starter Noah Syndergaard for seven hits and four runs in five innings. Las Vegas didn’t help itself, committing two errors. Also, Syndergaard walked five.

Las Vegas trimmed the deficit to one run with a two-run fourth inning on an RBI double from Cesar Puello and a run-scoring single from Daniel Muno.

But Albuquerque, which finished with 15 hits, scored once in the seventh and once in the ninth to seal the victory.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
