I just read the Monday letter to the editor “Impeach Obama and elect Trump.” I am not sure if this is an attempt at humor or if the writer has missed some important information.
President Barack Obama has had to contend with a Republican Congress that has sworn to do everything possible to make him a failed president. In spite of this “do-nothing” Congress, the economy has been improving and jobs have been added every month for many months. The stock market has almost tripled, and the world has a lot more respect for us.
Donald Trump. Now there is a story for us. Trump has declared bankruptcy four times (1991, 1992, 2004 and 2009.) Bankruptcy is a remedy allowed in the Constitution and was a direct response to debtor prisons in the “old world.”
So Trump borrowed millions and millions of dollars for projects and did not pay the money back to the lenders. He left other people to take the blame and pay his bills.
Wait, wasn’t there someone else in recent history who did something similar? Wasn’t there a president who gave massive tax relief to the wealthy without paying for it? Didn’t he start two very expensive wars without paying for them? Didn’t he create thousands of new veterans who needed help, but didn’t fund the VA to help them? Didn’t he leave all this debt for the next guy to take the blame?
Yeah, that’s what we need, Donald Trump. Or maybe the letter writer was kidding?
