Metro Police investigators gather by the 7600 block of Calico Fields Street after an officer-involved shooting near Fort Apache and Farm roads Monday, Aug. 11, 2014. Police said a suspect was shot after officers responded about 1 p.m. to a disturbance call.

The officer involved in Monday's shooting in the northwest valley has been identified by Metro Police.

Sergeant Sara Bradshaw, 45, shot 31-year-old Kyle Kuhn in the stomach as he advanced on officers with a knife, police said.

At 1 p.m., police responded to calls of a domestic disturbance at a house in the 7600 block of Calico Fields Street, near Fort Apache and Farm roads.

Kuhn had beaten his wife earlier in the day, police said. After the incident, he was transported to University Medical Center. He is alive, but his exact condition is unknown.

Bradshaw has been employed with Metro Police since August 1995.

She has been placed on routine paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated, police said. This is the 14th officer-involved shooting this year.
