In this Feb. 21, 2014 file photo, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant prepares to take batting practice during spring training baseball practice in Mesa, Ariz. Bryant, 22, is a big-time prospect.

Top baseball prospect Kris Bryant is a Las Vegas native who still calls Southern Nevada home in the offseason.

The Bonanza High product isn’t treating his hometown minor league team nicely this week.

Bryant drilled a game-ending two-run home run today for the Iowa Cubs in the 12th inning, giving them a 6-5 victory against the visiting Las Vegas 51s.

It was Bryant’s second home run of the series against Las Vegas and his 18th home run in 53 games with the Cubs since being promoted from Double-A. Both home runs against the 51s were hit off Chase Bradford, a Silverado High product.

Matt Reynolds had a pair of home runs for Las Vegas, giving it a 5-4 lead in the top of the 12th with a solo shot. The 51s hit four home runs in the game, including a two-run home run from Allan Dykstra in the fourth and a solo home run from Josh Satin in the sixth.

The series with Iowa finishes Friday before Las Vegas heads to Omaha, Neb., for four games. It returns to Cashman Field Aug. 20 to face New Orleans.
