Man missing after jumping from boat into Lake Mohave

A Southern California man who disappeared after he jumped from a boat into Lake Mohave on Saturday afternoon remains missing, according to the National Park Service.

The 31-year-old man apparently began struggling after jumping into the water and was last seen going under near Cottonwood Cove, officials said.

Witnesses reported the incident at 12:07 p.m. to the Lake Mead Interagency Communication Center.

Park rangers, Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens and employees from a nearby marina immediately mobilized a search for the swimmer, who was not wearing a life jacket when he jumped into the water, officials said.

Authorities believed the man was about 100 yards from shore in an area with water depths of 80 to 100 feet.

Recent storms have reduced water visibility, making the search more challenging, officials said. The search is ongoing.
