Inmate, 63, dies at Northern Nevada Correctional Center

An inmate from Washoe County died Wednesday of a chronic medical condition at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center’s Regional Medical Facility.

Benny Manning, 63, died Wednesday.

Manning began incarceration for a sexual assault in May 1976, and though he was paroled multiple times, he was re-incarcerated for violations including grand larceny. He re-entered the Nevada Department of Corrections system most recently in August 2006 and was serving a sentence of five years to life.

An autopsy is pending.
