A Metro Police officer lifts crime scene tape over a K9 SUV in a neighborhood near Tropicana Avenue and Sandhill Road after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday, July 29, 2014. The shooting was related to a home invasion, according to Metro Police.

The woman critically injured in last month's string of deadly home invasions died on Thursday, according to Metro Police.

The woman had been in critical condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center since July 29, when police say she was shot by Cody Winters, 27, after he broke into her home in the early morning hours.

Winters, along with his partner Natasha Jackson, were fleeing police after committing a series of home invasions that left one man dead when they got to the woman's house. Winters shot the woman in front of her boyfriend and attempted to use her as a human shield, police said. Winters was shot to death by police shortly after, and the woman was transported to the hospital. Jackson was arrested and is facing a number of felony counts, including murder.

The woman's identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
