Man pleads guilty in beating death of Nevada official

A man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the April 2013 beating death of Nevada's chief insurance examiner.

Raul Garcia Jr. awaits sentencing Oct. 27 after entering the plea Friday in Carson District Court.

Garcia said he and the other defendants went to the Carson City apartment of 62-year-old William McCune to rob him because they believed he had a lot of money.

The Nevada Appeal reports he told District Judge James Wilson he was present at the time of the murder so he's "just as guilty as everyone else."

Last October, three other defendants entered plea agreements with prosecutors in the case.

All four defendants, who are in their early 20s, were arrested after McCune's body was found in the Carson River wrapped in a blanket and duct tape.
