John Moran Jr., playing in the Injured Police Officers Fund golf tournament today at the Bali Hai Golf Club in Las Vegas, made a hole in one on the 11th hole.

It was the second career ace for Moran, a longtime attorney and former Las Vegas police officer. He used an 8 iron to carry the shot 145 yards.

The tournament is named for Moran’s parents, John and Goldie Moran. It honors the elder John Moran, a former three-term Clark County sheriff who started the IPOF to support police officers injured in the line of duty and the families of those killed.

Moran’s hole in one was witnessed by his playing partners Bill Weinberger, state Sen. Randolph Townsend and Brian Greenspun.
